The Kansas City Chiefs named Julius Foster of Lincoln College Prep and Camron Smith of Washington High School as their Week 9 high school Coaches of the Week for the 2026 season, the team announced on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The recognition honors their teams’ recent success and the coaches’ work supporting student-athletes.
Each coach will be awarded a $1,000 grant from the Hunt Family Foundation, a Chiefs bucket hat, a certificate of recognition, and a custom game ball. The two coaches are also eligible for the Eric Driskell Coach of the Year Award, a prize decided upon at the conclusion of the high school regular season by a committee from the Missouri and Kansas Boards of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association.
Lincoln College Prep’s Playoff Push
Head Coach Julius Foster leads the Lincoln College Prep Tigers, who advanced to the second round of the MSHSAA Class 5 District 8 playoffs with a 15-14 victory over Winnetonka on Friday, Oct. 31. The team erased an 8-0 halftime deficit to win. Lincoln Prep is scheduled to face Platte County on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.
“From my perspective, this award highlights the efforts of not just the head coach but the entire staff,” Foster said. “It means so much to me for my guys to be highlighted. That said, a huge shoutout to Derek Jones Jr., Tyjuan Porter, Michael Carpenter, Clifton McFadden III, Tywan Muturi, Jalen Spencer, Myron Thomas, and Caleb Diederich. The head coach is only as strong as his staff and these guys have me feeling like a written warrior.”
Washington’s District Dominance
Under Head Coach Camron Smith, the Washington Wildcats are riding a three-game winning streak and hold first place in the Meadowlark District with a 5-0 record. The team improved to 7-2 overall with a 42-35 victory over Blue Valley Southwest on Friday, Oct. 30. Washington’s recent surge includes an 83-7 victory over Harmon Hawks on Oct. 16, a game in which the team recorded 699 yards of offense and forced eight turnovers.
The Chiefs’ Coach Recognition Program
The Coach of the Week initiative, a weekly program from the Chiefs, recognizes outstanding high school football coaches across Missouri and Kansas. The program intends to honor the people operating in the background who are molding the future generation of football players and leaders, seeking to create an influence that is separate from their on-field results. The Chiefs will proceed with their weekly recognitions, with the Coach of the Year choice to be made after the high school regular season concludes.
