Lit & Co. opens new candle shop in downtown Boise

Lit & Co. has expanded its retail presence in the Treasure Valley with a new candle shop in downtown Boise. The local business, which has been making soy candles in the area since 2013, now operates two brick-and-mortar locations, including its flagship store in Hyde Park and the new downtown shop.

The new store is located at 2232 W. Main Street and features a DIY fragrance bar for custom scent blending, over 90 fragrances of soy candles made on-site, and a selection of jewelry, art, and home decor. Lit & Co. owner Kristen Jackson noted that the company had used the Main Street location as a production facility for the past two years but always planned to open it to the public. Downtown Boise is truly awesome, but I wasn’t necessarily looking to be in the heart of the action, so the Main Street corridor is perfect for us, Jackson said. We love being close to downtown while being surrounded by a great, lively residential neighborhood and awesome local businesses – plus this location has easy access to the shop thanks to our dedicated parking lot.

From Hobby to Brick-and-Mortar

Lit & Co. began as a hobby and has since grown to include both part- and full-time employees. In addition to its two retail shops, the company’s candles are sold in stores across the Treasure Valley, including Albertson’s and the Boise Co-Ops. From a ‘let’s try it’ hobby to expansion into brick-and-mortar retail with part- and full-time employees and shelves at Albertson’s and the Boise Co-Ops (and beyond!), Lit & Co. Candles is still as local as it gets – locally dreamed up, locally owned, locally operated, Jackson stated.

Community and Wholesale Offerings

Jackson emphasized the importance of local support in the company’s growth. But we absolutely couldn’t do this without the support of the local Treasure Valley community, and the continued support is sincerely and genuinely appreciated, she said. Beyond retail, Lit & Co. offers wholesale opportunities, private label services, and bulk candle orders for gifting or fundraising purposes.

Finding the New Shop at Main Street

The new Lit & Co. shop at 2232 W. Main Street is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. The location provides easy customer access with a dedicated parking lot, situated in a lively residential neighborhood near other local businesses as reported by BoiseDev.
