Man Charged With Homicide After Fatal Shooting in East Nashville

Gemaurien Robinson charged with criminal homicide in East Nashville shooting

A 21-year-old Nashville man is being held without bond following the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Cenya Holland at an East Nashville apartment complex. Police responded to the Fallbrook Apartments at 345 Dellway Villa Drive around 10:15 p.m. last Friday after receiving reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Holland near the entrance of the complex suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported her to Skyline Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Surveillance evidence and suspect admission

Homicide detectives identified Gemaurien Robinson as the primary suspect after reviewing surveillance footage from the scene and interviewing witnesses. WSMV reported that detectives took Robinson into custody following the investigation into the Friday night incident. During the subsequent police interview, Robinson reportedly admitted to shooting Holland while the two were walking together.

When questioned about his motive, Robinson claimed that he perceived Holland as a danger to him. However, investigators noted that the suspect provided no specific details or evidence of an actual threat. The Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed that there was no clear reason or provocation identified for the shooting.

Legal proceedings and current status

Robinson, who was a resident of the Fallbrook Apartments where the shooting took place, is now facing a charge of criminal homicide. He is currently being held in custody without the possibility of bond. His initial appearance in court is scheduled for November 10, where the legal process regarding the charges will begin.
