MEC names Halfin and Rajesh Volleyball players of the week

West Virginia Wesleyan outside hitter MacKenna Halfin earned Mountain East Conference Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week honors, mybuckhannon.com reported Monday, following a high-volume stretch that included a 20-kill performance against Salem.

A Standout Week on the Court for Halfin

The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan. Halfin, a sophomore from Moatsville, West Virginia, totaled 45 kills across three matches for the Bobcats during the evaluation window.

The productive stretch kicked off Thursday against Salem, where Halfin recorded 20 kills and a .410 hitting percentage. Her offensive output continued earlier in the week with 14 kills against Charleston on Oct. 20 and 11 kills against Point Park on Oct. 23.

Conference Honors Across the MEC

While Halfin secured the offensive weekly accolade for West Virginia Wesleyan, the defensive honors went to Charleston.

Golden Eagles libero Sahana Rajesh, a freshman from Los Angeles, claimed the MEC Defensive Player of the Week award after putting up back-to-back matches with 30 or more digs. Rajesh accumulated 64 total digs over the week, averaging 7.11 digs per set. Her numbers included 30 digs against West Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 20 and 34 digs in a five-set win over Wheeling on Oct. 23.
