Missing Garden City Teenager Located Safely in Oregon After Year-and-a-Half Search
A 17-year-old girl reported missing from Garden City, Utah, in May 2025 has been safely located in Oregon by law enforcement, the FBI’s Salt Lake City office announced. According to KUTV, authorities recovered the teenager on Nov. 1 alongside a 39-year-old man who was taken into custody without incident.
For more than a year, special agents with the FBI and investigators with the Rich County Sheriff’s Office pursued investigative leads spanning state lines and international borders.
The Operation and Ongoing Investigation
Federal officials have released limited details regarding the circumstances of the recovery or the identity of the suspect in custody. The FBI has not publicly identified the man found with the minor, nor have they specified what formal criminal charges he may face as the legal process moves forward.
While federal investigators withheld the teenager’s name in their official statements, details released by the agency match the disappearance of Kylie Arellano, who vanished from Garden City in May 2025. Local police departments in Oregon executed the recovery operation using intelligence and information supplied directly by the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office.

We are grateful she can return home, and we will continue working with our partners to hold those responsible accountable. — FBI Salt Lake City Director Kash Patel
The investigation remains active. Federal and local authorities have stated that no additional information or case updates will be released to the public at this stage of the ongoing proceedings.
