“I’m as astounded as I am delighted that my double EP has reached number 1 on the UK Jazz and Blues Charts,” Muireann Bradley posted on social media.
The 19-year-old singer from Ballybofey, County Donegal, has officially become the youngest female artist in 22 years to top the Official British Jazz & Blues Chart. Donegal Daily reported that the milestone arrived with her double EP, Rose Dogs and Blackwood Pew, placing her at the top of the chart since Katie Melua achieved the feat in 2004.
Chart Success for Ballybofey Singer
The young musician’s ascent to the top spot marks a major milestone in a rapid upward trajectory that began catching international attention on New Year’s Eve 2023. At that time, Bradley made a breakthrough appearance on Jools’ Annual Hootenanny, performing before a worldwide audience of millions on the BBC.
Reflecting on her latest accomplishment, the teenager acknowledged the legacy of the artists who came before her over the past thirty years. “I feel very honoured when I think of some of the artists that have achieved this before me over the last 30 years,” she shared online. She also thanked supporters who attended her live performances and purchased physical and digital releases, noting, “Apparently I’m the youngest female artist in 22 years to reach this position, which is crazy!”
Touring the US and Europe
Since her television debut, Bradley has maintained a rigorous touring schedule across the United States and Europe. Despite the widening international reach of her music, sources close to the artist confirm that her feet remain firmly on the ground as she continues to support the release of Rose Dogs and Blackwood Pew.
