Nebraska men’s basketball pushed its non-conference regular-season win streak to 24 games on Saturday, defeating Providence 67-58 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Mohegan Sun Clash Extends Nebraska Streak
Playing just 60 miles from the Friars’ home base, the Huskers improved their record while handing Providence its first loss of the season. The streak dates back to November 22, 2024. Nebraska opened the neutral-site contest with turnovers on its first two possessions, matching the defensive pressure that previously forced Maine into 23 turnovers.
Braden Frager and Boden Kapke quickly settled the offense by combining for the game’s first seven points. Pryce Sandfort then tied the game at 9-9 with a layup four minutes in, sparking an 18-3 run where he scored 10 of 12 points. Providence responded with a 6-0 run before halftime, sending the teams to the break with Nebraska ahead 30-25.

Second-Half Runs Seal the Neutral-Site Win
Kapke and Cale Jacobsen opened the second half by converting four free throws. Layups from Frager and Sandfort soon stretched the lead to 11 points, but the offense stalled during a 5:37 scoring drought where the Huskers managed just one basket out of seven attempts.
Providence capitalized with an 11-3 run to narrow the gap. The combination of Frager and Sandfort sparked a game-sealing run. The two sharpshooters made three-pointers to push the lead back to nine points. Sandfort followed with a transition dunk to push the margin to 12 points. The Friars failed to cut the deficit to single digits again until 22.5 seconds remained.
