New Walmart Supercenter opens in Oklahoma City with Ree Drummond

Oklahoma City welcomed a new Walmart Supercenter on Wednesday, marking the first such store to open in the state in ten years. The new Walmart opened along North Rockwell Avenue and Memorial Road in Oklahoma City, with customers able to expect fresh food, updated fashion, and cooking items at the new location.

Grand Opening Celebration

The grand opening event featured appearances by Ree Drummond, an Oklahoma native and the Pioneer Woman, former Thunder basketball star Nick Collison, and the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Walmart pulled out all the stops to celebrate the occasion, with Drummond joining the celebration by handing out cinnamon rolls in the parking lot.

“We are so proud to be a part of this community. We are excited to serve this area. The store manager has done a great job putting this together,” said Rissa Pittman, regional vice president of Walmart.

New Store Adds Services to Northwest Corridor

The new Supercenter offers groceries and general merchandise, a pharmacy, vision center, auto service center, and garden center. This new establishment brings retail and amenities to the northwest Oklahoma City corridor, catering to the residents of Deer Creek and the surrounding Piedmont area. The launch is a component of Walmart’s nationwide growth and refurbishment strategy, which involves roughly 20 new store launches during 2026 and the beginning of 2027, in addition to over 650 renovations. These investments focus on enhanced store designs, broader pickup and delivery options, and tighter integration between physical retail and digital capabilities.
