British actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke, best known for his role in Doctor Who, has been charged with six sexual offences following an investigation that began in September 2025. The Crown Prosecution Service authorized London’s Metropolitan Police to bring charges including sexual assault, voyeurism, and exposure relating to five women.

The actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke was charged with sexual offences including sexual assault, voyeurism, and exposure by London’s Metropolitan Police Service after authorities received a file of evidence from detectives.

The alleged offences span a nine-year period between 2007 and 2016 and involve allegations made by five women. Bethan David, the deputy chief crown prosecutor for London, explained the decision behind the prosecution in an official statement.

The investigation into the actor began in September 2025, during which a man then in his 40s was arrested on September 25 of that year. Following the initial arrest, detectives gathered evidence and submitted a file to prosecutors, leading directly to the authorized charges.

“The women connected to these charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers. We urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to contact police. The information you provide will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity, and we have trained investigators on hand to support you.”

Public officials have cautioned against online commentary that might impact the fairness of the trial. David reminded the public that legal proceedings remain active and that the accused maintains the right to a fair trial.

Prior Media Exposure and Legal History Connected to the Actor

The current criminal charges arrive five years after The Guardian reporting allegations of sexual misconduct, groping, and bullying from 20 women, including claims regarding the set of Doctor Who, where Clarke played Mickey Smith from 2005 to 2010. Clarke vehemently denied those initial claims at the time.

In the wake of the 2021 allegations, industry organizations including ITV, Sky, and CAA cut ties with the actor, while BAFTA rescinded his Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award. Clarke subsequently launched a libel lawsuit against the publisher of the exposé. That civil litigation concluded in August 2025 when Clarke lost the libel case and was ordered to pay £3 million toward the legal costs of Guardian News and Media.

Beyond his television work, Clarke is recognized for writing, directing, and starring in the London teen crime drama films Kidulthood (2006), Adulthood (2008), and Brotherhood (2016). His film and television credits also include appearances in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and the television series Bulletproof.
