Mobile Pixels Crowdfunds $434,707 from 392 Backers for Prisma 40-inch Curved 5K Monitor

Mobile Pixels has introduced Prisma, a 40-inch curved 5K monitor featuring an integrated workspace hub designed for Apple Mac mini and Mac Studio users. Backers have pushed the crowdfunding campaign past its funding objective on Kickstarter, though only five discounted units remain available under a limited introductory offer ahead of estimated January 2027 deliveries.

Crowdfunding Momentum and Discounted Pricing Tiers for the Prisma Monitor

The Mobile Pixels campaign has secured $434,707 from 392 backers against its original $15,000 funding objective, with another 23 days remaining in the drive. Early supporters rushed to back the hardware, leaving just five discounted units available at the time of writing out of an initial allocation of 260 monitors.

The introductory backing price sits at $999, representing a 38% discount against a planned $1,600 retail price. That promotional pricing provides a $601 saving for early adopters, though additional shipping charges can reach $80 or vary depending on the buyer location. The project team also accepts $10 contributions from supporters who want to help finance the development without receiving a monitor in return.

Workstation Hub Features and 5K Panel Specifications

Engineered around an LG IPS Black panel, the Prisma combines a 40-inch curved screen with an integrated workstation hub. The display delivers a 5120 × 2160 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and quasi-10-bit color reproduction capable of showing about 1.07 billion colors. With 99% DCI-P3 coverage, the panel accommodates color-sensitive workloads such as photo editing and video production.

Connectivity options include USB-C, USB-A, and USB-B ports alongside dedicated SD and microSD readers. An onboard KVM switch lets two connected computers share the same peripherals, while Picture-by-Picture functionality simultaneously displays their respective outputs on screen. The integrated docking station also incorporates an M.2 SSD expansion slot for additional internal storage without requiring an external enclosure.

By providing plenty of visual workspace, the monitor greatly boosts efficiency and lets users run several programs at once without needing a secondary display. In addition, the 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and responsive performance, beneficial for general use and creative tasks such as photo and video editing.

Hardware Cradle, Power Delivery, and Delivery Timeline

A dedicated cradle integrated into the supporting structure accommodates Apple Mac mini and Mac Studio computers, keeping their enclosures off the desktop surface. The stand includes a built-in cooling fan that modulates its speed based on heat levels, even though specific metrics on thermal efficiency have not been disclosed. It also features a 15W wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones, while a retractable iPhone mounting mechanism supports Apple Continuity Camera features like Center Stage and Desk View. The USB-C port allows laptop users to charge their devices.

Despite being tailored as a dock for Mac Studio and Mac Mini systems, the Prisma is equally compatible with Windows notebooks, desktop PCs, and various other hardware through its input selections. Deliveries are estimated for January 2027, though crowdfunding campaigns carry inherent risks regarding potential delays, changes, or non-delivery regardless of funding milestones.
