Northbound I-25 closing overnight in south metro Denver after construction ‘complication,’ CDOT says

Northbound Interstate 25 in Lone Tree will face overnight closures on Wednesday and Thursday as construction crews work to finish installing a pedestrian bridge after initial installation complications earlier in the week, the Colorado Department of Transportation announced.

Traffic Impacts and Closure Schedule in South Metro Denver

Drivers navigating south metro Denver will encounter rolling highway disruptions starting Wednesday afternoon. Colorado Department of Transportation officials outlined a phased evening closure schedule beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday, when crews shut down the off-ramp from northbound I-25 to Lincoln Avenue.

Operations expand at 6 p.m. Wednesday with the closure of one northbound lane between Ridgegate Parkway and Lincoln Avenue, alongside the ramp connecting westbound Ridgegate to northbound I-25. An additional lane closes at 8 p.m. alongside the eastbound Ridgegate ramp.

Full highway shutdowns take effect at 10 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. All northbound lanes between Ridgegate Parkway and Lincoln Avenue will remain closed until 5 a.m. the following morning, reopening ahead of the morning commute.

During the overnight closures, traffic will be diverted off northbound I-25 onto Ridgegate Parkway, routed east to South Peoria Street, north to Lincoln Avenue, and west on Lincoln to rejoin the interstate. Real-time updates remain available through the Colorado Department of Transportation travel portal.

Construction Complications Behind the Schedule Change

The overnight work became necessary after crews ran into unexpected complications while installing the southbound section of the pedestrian bridge on Monday and Tuesday. Workers now aim to complete the northbound bridge section across Wednesday and Thursday nights, though project timelines depend heavily on local weather conditions.
