“From the very second he got out of the car he was on a massive power trip,”
Trista Marie Chaviers recalled of an Alabama traffic stop that quickly unraveled on camera. An Alabama police officer is out of two jobs following a viral traffic stop video where he exhibited what officials described as unprofessional and aggressive behavior, al.com reported.
The Viral Traffic Stop in Crossville
The incident, captured in videos posted on Facebook by Trista Marie Chaviers, shows her and her husband, Jackson Chaviers, talking to an officer in Crossville. In the footage, the officer repeatedly tells the couple to “shut up.” Shortly after, Jackson Chaviers was handcuffed by another responding officer after standing up for his wife.
“He was being completely hateful, ugly and aggressive for no reason at all,” Trista Chaviers said of the primary officer involved.
Crossville Mayor Roger Richards identified the officer as Officer Harrelson in a Facebook statement on Monday, announcing his termination from the town’s police department. Richards clarified that Harrelson held a full-time position with Crossville but was actively on duty during the traffic stop as a part-time officer for the Geraldine Police Department.
“The unprofessional and unacceptable behavior like this will not be tolerated in the Crossville Police Dept.,” Richards said. “So as of Oct. 26, 2026 Mr. Harrelson is no longer an employee of Town of Crossville and as Mayor I apologize to all involved.”

Geraldine Fires Harrelson as Crossville Dismisses Citations
The fallout extended beyond Crossville swiftly. The Town of Geraldine issued its own statement on Tuesday, confirming that “the conduct displayed in this incident does not reflect the standards or expectations” of the town or its department, resulting in Harrelson’s termination from his part-time role there as well.
Although the couple was issued traffic tickets during the encounter, Trista Chaviers stated that the Town of Crossville is dismissing the citations as the family weighs retaining a civil rights lawyer.
