The Omaha women’s soccer team hit the road looking for a late-season boost and secured precisely what they needed to shape their postseason path. The Mavericks played to a 0–0 draw against Kansas City, finishing the regular season at 4–8–6 overall and 3–4–3 in the Summit League.
While the scoreless stalemate prevented Omaha from locking up the pod B second seed strictly through its own offense, St. Thomas fell 4–1 to Oral Roberts, handing the Mavericks the No. 2 seed anyway. That positioning sets up a home match at Caniglia Field.

Kansas City finished its season at 2–11–5 overall and 1–5–4 in conference play as Hayes Fitzgerald shone in goal for UMKC. Fitzgerald put on a stellar defensive display, recording seven saves—a new career high—to thwart every single attempt the Mavericks sent her way.
Charley Kort led Omaha’s aggressive attack with four total shots, including three on target, but Fitzgerald turned away multiple opportunities in both halves. Haylee Braun added two shots on goal, while Kendall Dobberstein and Payten Ivins both tested the Roos’ defense down the stretch. In total, the Mavericks generated 16 shots, marking a season best for the squad, yet Kansas City’s back line held firm. On the other end, the Roos failed to record a shot in the first 45 minutes, with Olivia Orosco, Olivia Platt, and Kaitlyn Edwards accounting for the team’s only three attempts during a brief five-minute window in the second half.
The postseason bracket now brings a familiar opponent to Omaha. The Mavericks will host South Dakota on Friday, November 6, at 2:30 p.m., looking to avenge a tight 1–0 loss to the Coyotes that took place back on October 15. South Dakota enters the matchup holding a 6–7–5 overall record and a 3–4–3 conference mark.
The winner of Friday’s opening-round tournament game will advance to face North Dakota State on Thursday, November 12, at 2 p.m. Oral Roberts will host the subsequent tournament semifinals and the championship match in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
