Timi Frank has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of allegedly using the judiciary and intimidation tactics to undermine opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that such actions could trigger a severe political crisis in Nigeria.
Judiciary Accused of Partisan Role
Frank further alleged that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was being used as an intermediary to influence judicial actors against opposition politicians.
We were aware that immediately after the Sokoto outing, there were meetings aimed at thwarting Atiku’s ambition. Despite all efforts to prevent the Sokoto event from holding, it went ahead and has remained the talk of the town. Now, they appear to have resorted to this approach.

Intimidation and Violence in Edo State
In a joint press conference in Benin City on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the parties accused the APC of fuelling attacks, intimidation, and destruction of opposition properties across the state.
The opposition parties alleged that their members, candidates, and supporters have faced repeated attacks, harassment, and vandalism since the start of political activities. Specific incidents cited include the alleged vandalisation of the NDC secretariat in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, the destruction of campaign billboards belonging to NDC candidates, and attacks on party members in different parts of the state. The ADC also recounted alleged attacks on its leaders, including an incident involving John Odigie-Oyegun and Peter Obi, during which vehicles and other properties were reportedly damaged.
International Community Called to Monitor
Frank urged the United States Government and other members of the international community to closely monitor political developments in Nigeria. He warned that the alleged weaponisation of the judiciary against the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections poses a grave threat to Nigeria’s democracy and could plunge Africa’s largest country into a serious political crisis.

He also called on the Nigerian President to guarantee a level playing field for all political parties, warning that Nigeria’s democracy must not become a system in which only the ruling party enjoys the freedom to campaign, organize and mobilize supporters. Such a perception will erode public confidence in our democratic institutions and could drive Nigeria towards anarchy,
Frank stated.
The ADC-PCC has also echoed these concerns, condemning what it described as a sustained assault on democracy and the constitutional right to political participation.
