TJ DeCaire Dominates Pro Late Model Feature at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway
Short Track Scene reported that TJ DeCaire secured his second major win of the season on Saturday night, capturing the Pro Late Model 100-lap feature at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway during the All American 400 weekend. Driving for AJ Frank’s team out of Low Country Motorsports, DeCaire capitalized on a fast machine after winning the pole position and controlling the pace for the majority of the race.
DeCaire’s primary obstacle emerged on a late-race restart when cold tires caused him to spin in Turn 2, temporarily handing the lead to Trey Craig. DeCaire quickly recovered, worked his way back past Craig, and pulled away to take the checkered flag. “That was probably honestly one of the best cars I’ve ever driven,” DeCaire told Short Track Scene after the race, noting that the tight aerodynamic conditions at the track made passing difficult once he fell behind another car.
Trey Craig Navigates Chaos to Claim Second in Nashville
Trey Craig qualified second but was forced to work his way through the field after the race’s starting invert. Benefiting from multiple cautions and incidents ahead of him, Craig maintained second place in the closing stages and executed a pass on DeCaire during the late-race restart before ultimately settling for the runner-up spot.
Operating out of his own shop as part of a small family team, Craig expressed satisfaction with the result after battling motor issues throughout the season that limited him to just two completed races out of eight starts. “We’re just a little small team. We do it all out of our own shop. It’s hard to compete with those guys, but it’s awesome to be able to think that we can run with those guys,” Craig said.
Gage Gilby Fights Through Contact for Third-Place Finish
Gage Gilby overcame a flat right-rear tire and multiple on-track incidents to finish third in the Pro Late Model feature. After taking evasive action during a frontstretch wreck involving Kasey Kleyn, Vito Cancilla, and Jackson Boone, Gilby sustained contact that necessitated an unscheduled pit stop for a tire change.
“It was just a chaotic night overall,” Gilby told Short Track Scene. “When the three wrecked there on the frontstretch… we went low to avoid and got tagged by somebody. And we lined up, but found out we had a right-rear flat. So came into the pits, and got that changed, but the car never really changed. It was still a rocket ship.”
