Nashville Villains Overpower Huntsville Heroes in 75-19 Rugby Clash
Trading traditional kits for Halloween costumes, the Nashville Villains defeated the Huntsville Heroes 75-19 on Saturday in a high-scoring women’s rugby match.
Nashville struck early in the contest, capitalizing on a quick Huntsville turnover for an opening try. A missed conversion kept the score at 5-0. The match then settled into a gritty defensive battle between the 22-meter lines. Just before the 20-minute mark, Nashville worked through structured phase play to set up another try, adding a successful conversion to extend the lead to 12-0.
Nashville broke through again off a scrum, exploiting an open gap to make it 17-0. Following back-and-forth possessions, the side earned hard meters through the middle, culminating in another try. Moments before halftime, an impressive run gained a massive chunk of territory, sending Nashville into the break ahead 31-0.
Second-Half Surge and Depleted Benches Shape the Final Score
Huntsville came out firing to open the second half. Following an exchange of possessions, Huntsville exploited an opening in the backline as Jen Larson crossed for a try, and she then successfully kicked her own conversion to get Huntsville on the board with the score at 31-7. As the restart kick sailed downfield, Drew Graham caught it past her own 22-meter line for Huntsville and sliced past tacklers for a long-distance score. Larson connected on the consecutive conversion to trim the deficit to 31-14.
With Huntsville’s bench depleted due to match injuries, Nashville quickly regained control. Forcing a turnover on the next possession, Nashville went on the offensive and touched the ball past the try line to score six more times, converting three of those tries to bring the score to 75-14.

Despite running out of substitutes, Huntsville showed grit until the final whistle. Right before the final whistle, Larson sent a precise kick downfield that found Graham, allowing her to touch down for her second score of the afternoon. Larson’s final conversion attempt missed, leaving the final score at 75-19.
