Two sisters open children’s boutique in downtown North Augusta – and they do custom embroidery

Downtown North Augusta Welcomes Honey and the Hedge

Downtown North Augusta has a new retail addition as sisters Stefanie Jaworski and Kelli Evans officially establish their children’s boutique, Honey and the Hedge, at 508 West Ave. After running the business online and at regional markets throughout the CSRA, the two moved into the little white house on West Avenue this summer. They operated a soft opening starting in July before gradually expanding the enterprise to fill each of the building’s rooms.

The venture took root when Evans became a mother, sparking the idea to open a dedicated children’s shop. Jaworski brings prior retail experience to the partnership, while Evans works as a Nurse Practitioner. Describing the choice to launch the storefront together, Jaworski noted that it arose from a connection between the two sisters, calling it a divine calling.

Community Support and Grand Opening

The shop celebrated its official grand opening on Oct. 29. The launch received assistance from North Augusta Forward, alongside neighboring business owners Jenny and Jesse Elliott of Shoppe 3130 and their daughter Rachel, who provided Sweet Racie’s Italian Ice. For the founders, the location itself helped finalize their plans. “Bringing something to North Augusta just felt right,” Jaworski said, adding that the West Avenue house sealed the deal because they wanted to be in a place of community.

Inside the boutique, inventory ranges from newborn clothing up to size 9-10. A primary feature of the shop is its monogram bar. Over the past year, Jaworski and Evans learned embroidery to offer custom stitching not only for children’s garments but also for tablescapes, tote bags, gifting items, and other specialized needs.

Designing a Family-Friendly Retail Space

The sisters aimed to build an atmosphere centered around high-touch service and personal connection. “We just have a passion for a different experience,” Jaworski explained, noting that they wanted to meet high customer expectations while welcoming families. To accommodate shoppers with young children, the store includes a designated sensory play area so parents can browse while kids play. The owners emphasize knowing customers by name and fostering a sense of belonging.
