Utah Football adds Corner Canyon OT Manase Brown for 2027 class

Manase Brown Commits to Utah, Choosing Utes Over USC and Rivals

Corner Canyon High School offensive tackle Manase Brown announced his commitment to the Utah football program on Monday afternoon, selecting the Utes over a final group that included USC, BYU, Michigan, and Arizona, as the Deseret News reported.

The 6-foot-7, 275-pound prospect held scholarship offers from more than 15 FBS schools. He originally committed to Fresno State over the summer before reopening his recruitment in late October. Brown took an official visit to Utah on October 10 to watch the Utes play Kansas, setting the stage for Monday’s announcement ceremony at Corner Canyon High in Draper, Utah.

I really feel Utah is the best spot for me, all around, Brown told Rivals’ Greg Biggins. They have a very special thing going on right now and I’m excited to be a part of that.

Building the 2027 Class Up Front

Coverage from sports.ksl.com noted that momentum had been building for Morgan Scalley’s program in the weeks leading up to the decision. 247Sports national recruiting analyst Collin Kennedy appeared on the Utah Blockcast prior to the announcement, stating, I think Utah ultimately is in closing position.

Brown carries a 0.8800 prospect rating in 247Sports composite rankings and stands as the No. 8 recruit in the state of Utah for the 2027 class. He is rated as the second-best prospect in Utah’s current class, trailing only Davis High wide receiver Jaxton Itaaehau. His commitment brings the Utes’ 2027 class total to 22 verbal commitments, with 10 of those players coming from in-state high schools.

The addition also marks the third Corner Canyon prospect to join Utah’s 2027 group, joining safety Diesel Dart and athlete Jackson West. Brown joins an offensive line contingent that includes Timpview’s Ian Aloisio, California prospect Damian Anyasodo, and Arizona’s Sire Stewart.

Physical Profile and Development Path

Beyond his size, Brown brings multi-sport background to the program as a basketball player for the Chargers. He also played tight end and defensive end during his high school career before moving to the offensive line ahead of his senior season.

Reporting by sports.ksl.com highlighted that Brown’s athletic trajectory shares similarities with Zereoue Williams coming out of high school in 2021. Because of his relatively recent shift to the offensive line, his technique and weight room development remain ongoing projects. At Utah, he will work under first-year offensive line assistant coach Jordan Gross, the eighth overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft who previously worked with Williams.

With Signing Day approaching in roughly a month, Brown’s decision solidifies an important in-state piece for the Utes’ trench depth as the program continues to secure local talent.
