Utah Tech Athletics and the Big Sky Conference unveiled the Trailblazers’ 2027 nine-game league football schedule on Tuesday afternoon, setting a path that opens with four conference games overall in the Beehive State, utahtechtrailblazers.com reported.
Utah Tech Opens Conference Play at Home
The Trailblazers will host three of their first conference games at Greater Zion Stadium, kicking off league play on September 25 against Portland State. Following that opening matchup, Utah Tech travels a short distance north on Interstate 15 for its annual “Battle For the Ax” rivalry game against Southern Utah on October 2. The homestand then resumes with visits from UC Davis on October 9 and in-state conference foe Weber State on October 16.
From there, the schedule shifts to alternating home and away dates for the remainder of the regular season. Utah Tech travels to Montana State on October 23 before returning home to host Cal Poly on October 30. November opens with a road trip to Idaho on the 6th, followed by the final regular-season home game against Montana on November 13. The Trailblazers wrap up their 2027 league slate against Northern Arizona on November 20.
While the conference matchups are set, Utah Tech’s full 2027 schedule and official kickoff times for all 12 games remain to be announced at a later date.

League-Wide Scheduling
Across the Big Sky Conference, the 2027 season maintains the league’s structural format of a nine-game conference schedule, though the timeline features a distinct early window. As montanasports.com reported, the conference slate opens on August 28—featuring matchups like Montana at Weber State and Montana State hosting Idaho State—before teams break for non-conference play through September and return to full conference action on September 25.
Due to the conference's odd number of teams, Southern Utah will play an eight-game league schedule, while competitors like Montana State have five home conference games and a non-conference matchup against North Dakota State at the Vegas Kickoff Classic in Las Vegas during Labor Day weekend.
