West Ham United Confirm Scott Parker as New Manager

Scott Parker is West Ham United’s new manager, confirmed after the club sacked Nuno Espirito Santo following a third home defeat of the season, according to Theguardian. The 46-year-old will watch Wednesday night’s Championship match at Cardiff City from the stands, with his first game in the dugout coming against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on 7 November.

The appointment ends a turbulent week for the east London club, which sits eighth in the Championship after 13 games following relegation from the Premier League last season. Nuno Espirito Santo was dismissed on Tuesday after Saturday’s loss to West Brom, and Daniel Kretinsky and the board moved quickly to agree terms with Parker, according to Yahoo Sports.

Parker’s first words as West Ham boss

Speaking to the club’s media for the first time since his appointment, Scott Parker described his return as a very proud moment, recalling four years of the best football he played in his career at a club that means so much to him and his family.

"PERFECT!" Dean Ashton EXPLAINS why Scott Parker is the IDEAL manager for West Ham United!

Scott Parker said he had been in this division three times and had got out of this division three times. He added that it is a tough division, there is absolutely no denying it, and that he will use every ounce of his experience and every ounce of his knowledge to have an understanding of what is needed to bring consistency.

He said consistency and commitment would be the key word for everyone at the club, giving the team the best opportunity to get out of this division and be the team that they can be.

A promotion specialist whose top-flight spells ended badly

Parker’s managerial record shows a clear pattern. He won promotion from the Championship with Fulham via the 2020 play-offs, beating Cardiff in the semi-finals and Brentford at Wembley, then took Bournemouth up as runners-up and led Burnley to a second-place finish in 2024. But each Premier League spell collapsed: Fulham were relegated in 2021, Bournemouth sacked him after a run of bad results that ended with a 9-0 loss to Liverpool, and Burnley’s relegation was confirmed in April 2026, before he left Turf Moor.

Noble, Potts and Prenderville take charge against Cardiff

With less than 24 hours between his appointment and Wednesday’s trip to the Welsh capital, Parker will not be on the touchline. West Ham insider ExWHUemployee reported that Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville are set to be in charge for the Cardiff game, according to Yahoo Sports.

Parker’s first match in charge comes on 7 November against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, followed by the November international break. The Guardian reported that Czech billionaire Kretinsky had agreed to increase his stake in the club to 46%, making him the biggest shareholder as West Ham look to rebuild.
