This impact caused the second driver to lose control and strike a third vehicle.

Just over an hour later, at approximately 1 a.m., a second fatal crash took place on southbound I-75 near Schaefer. According to Michigan State Police, a white Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, struck a concrete barrier, and rolled multiple times. Three females occupied the vehicle. Two occupants, including the driver, were ejected, while a third person remained trapped inside until emergency responders extracted them.
All three were transported to local hospitals. On Sunday morning, police confirmed that one of the passengers, a Roseville resident, had died. Troopers cited speeding and reckless driving as contributing factors in the incident.
Airborne Vehicle Plunges Onto I-96 Ramp in Final Suspected Drunk Driving Crash
A third single-vehicle crash happened around 2 a.m. on the Lodge Freeway near Wyoming Avenue, resulting in three fatalities. Michigan State Police reported that a southbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, left the freeway, climbed an embankment, crashed through shrubbery, and became airborne. The vehicle landed on the entrance ramp to southbound I-96 from Wyoming Avenue before striking a concrete barrier.
The driver and two passengers, all residents of Detroit, died at the scene. Troopers noted that alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the final crash. State police kept the affected freeways shut down for hours before reopening them to traffic later Sunday morning.
