92,300 Votes Cast as Delaware Early Voting Shifts to Reduced Hours

Delaware Early Voting Hours Shift as Turnout Continues to Climb

Turnout remains strong across Delaware as the state’s early voting period enters a new phase, accompanied by reduced operating hours starting Wednesday. WDEL reported that early voting sites, which previously operated from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. since last Thursday, now shift to a schedule of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This adjusted window runs through Sunday, November 1, marking the final day of early in-person voting before Election Day.

As voters adjust to the schedule change, statewide participation numbers continue to mount. According to data provided by the Department of Elections, a total of 92,300 votes have already been received as of 3:13 p.m. Tuesday, including both early in-person ballots and absentee returns. That figure accounts for roughly 11.3% of Delaware’s 809,886 registered voters. Voter rolls have expanded compared to the 2024 election cycle, which recorded 788,441 registered voters.

Sussex County Leads Statewide Turnout

Sussex County continues to pace the state in early participation. A total of 38,672 early voters have already cast their ballots in the county. That total outpaces the roughly 18,000 votes cast during the 2022 mid-term election and compares well to the numbers seen during the 2024 Presidential/Gubernatorial election cycle, where 63,000 early votes were logged.

By comparison, voter engagement in past mid-terms tells a different story. During the 2022 mid-term election, 325,632 out of 762,908 voters—about 42.7%—ultimately cast a ballot. Current early voting metrics suggest engagement heading into the final stretch of the current election.

Delaware Voters Can Use Early Voting Sites

Voters utilizing early voting options are reminded that they can cast their ballots at any designated early voting site located within their respective county. Registered voters can access sites across New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties, ranging from the Appoquinimink State Service Center in Middletown to the Margaret Rollins Community Center in Lewes and the Department of Elections Warehouse in Georgetown.
