Ethiopian Airlines Adds Nacala to Mozambique Network

Ethiopian Airlines is expanding its Mozambique network by launching thrice-weekly passenger service to Nacala starting October 27, 2026. The Addis Ababa-based carrier will operate Boeing 737-8 aircraft on the route, making the northern port city its third destination in the country alongside Maputo and Beira.

Ethiopian Airlines will launch a new passenger service connecting Addis Ababa to Nacala in Mozambique beginning on October 27, 2026. The Addis Ababa-based carrier will operate three flights a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing Boeing 737-8 aircraft for the route.

This upcoming expansion makes Nacala the airline’s third passenger destination in Mozambique, joining Maputo and Beira. Flights will depart from Addis Ababa at 09:20, traveling via Blantyre, Malawi, before continuing onward to Nacala. The return service leaves Nacala at 15:10, arriving back in Addis Ababa at 20:05.

Bridging Connectivity Gaps Across the African Continent

Company leadership emphasized the strategic value of the new air link during the route announcement. Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Mesfin Tasew noted the significance of growing the airline’s footprint within Mozambique.

Tasew explained that the service aims to address connectivity gaps across Africa while strengthening links between the continent and the rest of the world. According to airline statements, the new route will further strengthen the relationship between the people of Mozambique and Ethiopia by bringing award-winning service to Nacala and connecting the city to the carrier’s global network.

Trade, Tourism, and Economic Integration in Northern Mozambique

Nacala serves as an important center for trade and tourism in northern Mozambique. The incoming air link is expected to provide additional travel options for both business and leisure travelers while enhancing the city’s economic, commercial, and diplomatic connectivity.

Operating a young and modern fleet backed by customer service, Ethiopian Airlines positions the route to support trade, tourism, and broader economic integration between African markets. The carrier currently serves more than 160 domestic and international passenger and cargo destinations across five continents, maintaining an African network that covers more than 65 destinations.
