The Tony-nominated Broadway national tour of Beetlejuice arrives at Little Rock’s Robinson Center this weekend, bringing a mix of dark comedy, elaborate stagecraft, and a personal homecoming for members of its touring company, KATV reported.
The Production and the Plot on Stage
Assistant dance captain Sterling Nelson Jones noted that the production centers on Lydia Deetz navigating the death of her mother, the resulting strain on family relationships, and her encounter with Beetlejuice.
“We get to do a lift call every single day, where we make sure that everyone is staying safe with the lifts that we do in the show.”
Sterling said, describing the daily preparations required to keep the rigorous choreography consistent across cities. Among the production’s standout sequences, Sterling pointed to the opening of Act Two, titled “That Beautiful Sound,” which features high-energy acrobatics, flips, and lifts shared by Beetlejuice and Lydia.
A Personal Homecoming in Little Rock
For Sterling, the weekend engagement carries an extra layer of meaning. With a father born and raised in Little Rock, the tour stop offers a chance to visit the street where he grew up and connect family history with the themes of the musical.

“So it’s dealing with a show with about family. It’s really great to be able to have a family connection to the place that I’m in,” Sterling told KATV.
