Big Red Holiday Ornaments Installed in Lansing

Downtown Lansing’s holiday season officially began Thursday morning with the installation of the iconic big red holiday ornaments in the Washington Square roundabout. Crews from the Lansing Board of Water and Light and the city’s public services department placed the ornaments, which will remain in place until the holidays conclude.

The event marked the start of a holiday transformation for downtown Lansing, featuring performances by the Waverly High School Marching Band and Everett High School’s dance team and color guard. The ornaments have become a beloved tradition, an iconic moment to kick off the holiday season in the heart of Michigan’s downtown and our capital city. We make this into more of a celebration each year, said Downtown Lansing, Inc. Executive Director Cathleen Edgerly. Our business community gets really excited about it. Today really kicks off the holiday season in downtown Lansing.
