The Federal Register reported that the Bureau of Land Management’s Oregon State Office in Portland is officially scheduling the filing of multiple plats of survey across public lands in Oregon and Washington, setting strict statutory deadlines for any outside parties looking to challenge the demarcations.
Any person or party wishing to protest a specific plat must file a written notice with the State Director for Oregon/Washington, Bureau of Land Management, no later than the scheduled official filing date for that particular survey.
In Oregon, the Willamette Meridian filings cover several townships and ranges:

Across the border in Washington, the Willamette Meridian filings include two specific locations:

- T. 40 N, R. 26 E, section 10 (accepted September 16, 2026)
Robert Femling, Chief Cadastral Surveyor of Oregon/Washington, is listed in the notice. Protests must clearly point out the exact plat under contest and arrive at the BLM Oregon State Office by the planned date of the official filing, noting that submissions arriving past normal business hours are logged as filed on the following business day. Any objection submitted after the designated official filing date will be classified as late and will be disregarded.

An explanatory document detailing the grounds for the protest must be submitted to the BLM State Director for Oregon/Washington within 30 days of receiving the protest notice, provided it was not included initially. Should an objection to a survey plat reach the office before its official filing date, the formal filing of that specific plat will be paused while the challenge undergoes review. Official filing of a survey plat will only occur on the business day following the complete dismissal or resolution of all valid protests.
Please note that any address, telephone number, email, or other personal details you include in a protest submission could potentially be published in full for public access at any moment alongside your documents. Even if you request the omission of your personal details from public view, such an outcome cannot be guaranteed.
