Bryn Mawr beats Albany College of Pharmacy 71-45

The Bryn Mawr basketball team opened its 2026-27 season on a high note, securing a decisive 71-45 victory over the Albany College of Pharmacy on Saturday night at the Delhi Tip-Off Tournament.

According to the official game report from the Bryn Mawr athletics department, the Owls dominated the matchup by establishing an early lead and maintaining defensive pressure for the duration of the contest. The victory serves as a strong start for the team ahead of their next scheduled appearance at SUNY Delhi, set for Sunday, November 8, at 1:00 PM.

Establishing Early Momentum

Albany College of Pharmacy briefly held the lead following a three-pointer and a layup in the opening minute. However, the momentum shifted rapidly when Jenna Vollor tipped in a rebound from a Sydney Gelhar three-pointer to record Bryn Mawr’s first basket of the season. Hannah Mack followed just 29 seconds later with a triple of her own, igniting a 22-5 run that spanned most of the first quarter.

The Owls saw contributions from four different players during that opening stretch, including Jenny Briggs and Michelle Jiang. Although the Panthers attempted to close the gap late in the period, Bryn Mawr entered the second quarter with a 24-16 advantage.

The Second Quarter Defensive Stranglehold

The second frame proved to be the most lopsided portion of the game. After Sam Howland converted two free throws for the Panthers early in the quarter, the Bryn Mawr defense held Albany College of Pharmacy scoreless for nearly eight minutes.

During this defensive drought, the Owls capitalized on their opportunities by posting 16 points. Bridget Barron and Maddy Patel were among the six different players to score for Bryn Mawr in that span. By the time Howland ended the Panthers’ scoring drought with a layup at the 2:06 mark, the Owls had already secured a commanding 45-20 lead heading into halftime.

Hannah Mack Leads Bryn Mawr Scoring with 12 Points

Hannah Mack led the offensive effort for Bryn Mawr, finishing the night with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting. In addition to her scoring, Mack contributed six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Looking Ahead to SUNY Delhi

The second half saw more balanced play as the two teams traded baskets, with Bryn Mawr outscoring the Panthers 13-11 in the third quarter. The final frame maintained a similar pace, featuring a defensive stop that led to a layup by Keaton Olsen Fine and a subsequent two-minute scoreless stretch for both sides. Bryn Mawr successfully managed the clock to preserve the 71-45 final margin.

The Owls will look to carry this performance into their Sunday afternoon game against SUNY Delhi, which marks the conclusion of the Delhi Tip-Off Tournament.
