Burlington Township man indicted on multiple child sexual abuse material charges – Trentonian

Kareem Abdel-Rahman, a 38-year-old resident of Burlington Township, has been indicted by a Burlington County grand jury on nine criminal charges stemming from an online child exploitation scheme, the Trentonian reported.

The indictment, handed down in Mount Holly, follows an investigation that began when the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities arrested Abdel-Rahman on August 20, and he has since been lodged in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly.

The Charges and Scale of the Investigation

The grand jury indicted Abdel-Rahman on a total of nine counts, reflecting the extensive scope of the digital material recovered by investigators. The charges include two counts of first-degree causing or permitting a child to create child sexual abuse material (CSAM), one count of first-degree distribution of 1,000 or more items of CSAM, and one count of second-degree possession of between 1,000 and 99,000 items of CSAM.

Additionally, he faces a second-degree charge of aggravated sexual extortion, alongside two counts of third-degree debauching the morals of a child and two counts of third-degree providing obscenity to a minor, according to nj1015.com. Investigators allege that over a three-year period, Abdel-Rahman used Snapchat and Telegram to share and trade more than 30,000 images and videos of CSAM.

The investigation revealed a calculated pattern of deception. Authorities state that Abdel-Rahman posed online as an underage male, using social media platforms to engage in sexually explicit chats with multiple young girls. He allegedly sent them pornographic images and videos while pressuring them to create and transmit explicit media of themselves. At least two victims complied. According to newjersey.news12.com, one of the victims stated she sent the material after the defendant threatened to kill himself if she refused to comply.
