Colorado State head coach Jim Mora issued a fiery warning to his team after a lackluster 31-14 loss to Utah State last week. It’s not acceptable. It will not be acceptable. It will not be accepted,
Mora said, adding the hammer is coming down.
The Rams, now 3-5 on the season, are set to host Boise State at 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at Canvas Stadium.
Team Accepts Responsibility
Mora expressed disappointment in the team’s attitude, body language, effort, and response to coaching after the Utah State game. They’ve really accepted the challenge and responsibility,
Mora said this week, though he noted it doesn’t matter unless it shows on the field. He also stated that more drastic changes are coming to the Rams’ roster and coaching staff, revealing there’s already a list (of players/coaches who won’t return). The list is getting longer.
The Rams’ defense is last in the nation, allowing 42.38 points per game.
Offense Struggles Against Broncos
Mora criticized the Rams’ offense as awful
against Utah State, citing turnovers, failed execution, and a lack of focus. Leading rusher Mel Brown is listed as questionable
for the game, and tight end Juice Vereen is still out. Meanwhile, Boise State (7-1, 4-0 Pac-12) is leading the Pac-12 and the pursuit among all Group of 6 teams to make the College Football Playoff. Broncos running back Dylan Riley has the most rushing yards in the nation (1,049), and quarterback Maddux Madsen poses a major problem for the Rams’ secondary, which ranks 129th of 138 FBS teams.
Predictions for the Matchup
Kevin Lytle of the Coloradoan predicts Boise State 44, Colorado State 24, noting the Rams can’t stop the run. Predictions from the Denver Post are even lopsided, with Kyle Newman forecasting Boise State 55, CSU 17, Troy Renck predicting Boise State 52, CSU 21, Sean Keeler projecting Boise State 46, CSU 25, and Nate Peterson forecasting Boise State 56, CSU 17. The series history heavily favors Boise State, who leads 13-1 and won 49-21 last year.
