Vermont State University Lyndon fell in a straight-set sweep to Curry College, dropping set scores of 25-5, 25-10, and 25-14 during Thursday evening’s non-conference women’s volleyball match at Katz Gymnasium in Milton, Massachusetts.
The host Colonels took control early behind a relentless service game, racking up 32 service aces to overwhelm the Hornets. Curry finished the night with 15 kills and 15 assists, while Lyndon countered with two kills and two assists.
Service Pressure Dictates the Match
Curry’s offensive momentum stemmed directly from the service line. Emma Hobart paced the Colonels with nine service aces alongside three kills, while Meghan Abbott added a team-high five kills. Haley Carter directed the offense with 15 assists, and Sydney DeCarvalho led the Colonels with eight digs.

Lyndon struggled to generate offensive rhythm against the constant pressure. Kacie Nelson of Saint Johnsbury, Vermont, and Neissah Jacques of Lebanon, New Hampshire, notched the Hornets’ two kills. Nelson also contributed a team-high eight digs and one block, while Jacques added four digs.
Defensively, the Hornets fought to stabilize the back line. Hannah Badertscher of Irasburg, Vermont, and Olivia Cordova of Craig, Colorado, chipped in four digs apiece. Cordova and Nelson each collected one assist, and Alyssa Gerrish of Georgia, Vermont, recorded Lyndon’s sole service ace. As a team, the Hornets finished with 20 digs and one block.
Looking Ahead to Senior Night
The sweep leaves Lyndon at 3-16 overall, while Curry improves to 5-18 on the season. The Hornets return home on Friday evening for a Senior Night North Atlantic Conference doubleheader against Maine Maritime Academy. The first match gets underway at 4:00 PM.
