Hawaii Military Families Can Now Register for Homeschool Fitness Sessions
The Army’s Child and Youth Services (CYS) has opened registration for its homeschool physical education program, a move designed to offer structured athletic activity for military-dependent students.
The program is designed to build fundamental skills, foster healthy habits, and create a support network for kids.
Registering for the CYS Homeschool PE Session
Registration for the CYS Homeschool PE session is now open and will run throughout the month of December 2026. The program itself is scheduled to begin in January 2027, with sessions taking place every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is set at $30 per child. Families can expect to receive confirmation and further details via email before the program kicks off.
The curriculum focuses on creating an active, fun, and supportive environment where students can develop fundamental athletic skills. CYS aims to ensure that these children stay fit and build lasting friendships with other military children.

Participation is open to students between the ages of 5 and 18, with a birth year requirement of 2009 to 2022. A child must be at least 5 years old by the start of the program to be eligible. The program is being offered at two locations: Schofield Barracks at Watts Fields, 100 A Road, Schofield Barracks, HI, and Aliamanu Military Reservation (AMR) at AMR Field, 154 Kauhini Road, Honolulu, HI.
Completing Mandatory Paperwork for Enrollment
Before enrolling, families must complete a set of mandatory paperwork. All children must have an active CYS registration. This requirement applies to both first-time and renewing participants, and all registration must be completed through the CYS Parent Central Services.
A valid Health Assessment/Sports Physical Statement (HASPS) is required for participation. An Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) form is required for all participants, regardless of medical condition.
Safety Protocols and Dress Code
CYS has established a clear dress code and a list of safety restrictions. All children must wear comfortable athletic clothes and closed-toe athletic shoes. The safety policy strictly prohibits jewelry, hair beads, and shorts without pockets.
The launch of the CYS Homeschool PE program provides a solution for homeschooling families. As the registration period for the January 2027 session opens, the focus now shifts to ensuring that the program can deliver on its promise of providing a fun, safe, and enriching experience for the children of service members.
