Georgia Injury Update: Chauncey Bowens Probable for Ole Miss Game

Georgia enters its crucial matchup against Ole Miss facing mounting roster adjustments as the Southeastern Conference released an updated availability report on Friday.

The latest SEC disclosure shows running back Chauncey Bowens listed as probable after missing action since the Vanderbilt game. Bowens carried a questionable tag earlier in the week while managing a foot injury, leaving coaches to lean on Bo Walker during Georgia’s last two wins. Walker contributed 27 yards and a touchdown against Florida, sharing the backfield load with Nate Frazier and Dwight Phillips.

Frazier and Phillips combined for 134 rushing yards in the Florida outing. Frazier notched 67 yards and his first rushing touchdown since the Arkansas victory, returning successfully from a rib injury that sidelined him earlier in the season.

Injuries have begun testing the Bulldogs’ depth at several other positions. Tight end Elyiss Williams, linebacker AJ Kruah, and defensive end Joseph Jonah-Ajonye appeared on the availability report this week. Kruah and Jonah-Ajonye were officially ruled out for Saturday’s contest due to undisclosed injuries, while Williams remains questionable with a lower leg issue.

Williams has accumulated 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns this season. If the tight end cannot suit up against Ole Miss, Lawson Luckie, Jaden Reddell, and Ethan Barbour are expected to absorb the increased workload.

On the defensive front, Jonah-Ajonye typically provides rotational support behind Gabe Harris. Isaiah Gibson stands ready as the next man up at the defensive end position. AJ Kruah primarily contributes on special teams, where the team maintains solid upper-tier depth anchored by Raylen Wilson, Chris Cole, and Justin Williams. Outside linebacker Amaris Williams, an Auburn transfer who has yet to appear in a game this season, was ruled out earlier on Wednesday with a knee injury.

Positive news arrived for the receiving corps as Isiah Canion was removed from the injury report entirely on Thursday, confirming his availability after an absence dating back to the Arkansas game. Wide receiver Thomas Blackshear shifted to probable status following treatment for a collarbone issue, while defensive back Tyriq Green was downgraded to out due to an ankle injury.

The SEC will issue one more availability report on Friday before releasing a final pre-game update 90 minutes prior to kickoff. The Georgia-Ole Miss game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET start on ABC.
