Kalen DeBoer Issues Injury Updates for Alabama Ahead of LSU Showdown
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update Monday on several injured players as the Crimson Tide prepares for Saturday’s game at LSU.
Coming off a bye week, Alabama is evaluating the status of a lengthy list of players that includes multiple starters. DeBoer indicated during his weekly press conference that several contributors are heading in the right direction toward a potential return in Baton Rouge.
Players Working Their Way Back to the Field
The group working their way back onto the football field includes Zabien Brown, Ryan Coleman-Williams, EJ Crowell, Racin Delgatty, and Terrance Green. DeBoer noted that while these players are not all in the exact same spot, they are actively participating in workouts.
Some players are taking team reps while others handle non-contact reps. Their availability depends heavily on how their bodies respond to being pushed harder through the course of the week.
Prior to the bye week, all five missed Alabama’s matchup against Texas A&M. Coleman-Williams (knee), Green (lower leg), and Delgatty (lower leg) have been sidelined for the past two games after sustaining injuries during an October 10 loss to Georgia. Brown and Crowell suffered lower-leg injuries during an October 17 loss at Tennessee.
Desmond Umeozulu Faces Extended Recovery from Turf Toe
Outside linebacker Desmond Umeozulu, who has been out since the Florida State game with turf toe, faces a longer recovery. DeBoer stated that Umeozulu will remain out for a while yet, though the team remains hopeful for his return toward the very back end of the regular season.

Meanwhile, left guard Will Sanders is facing an extended absence. Sanders underwent TightRope surgery following an injury sustained during the win over Texas A&M, leaving him likely out for two to three weeks.
Alabama is scheduled to release its initial SEC availability report of the week on Wednesday evening. The Crimson Tide will face LSU at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 7, broadcast on ABC.
