Huntsville Havoc beat Macon Mayhem 4-2 after four-goal third period

Huntsville Havoc Erase Two-Goal Deficit With Four-Goal Third Period to Beat Macon Mayhem 4-2

Hockey games often pivot on single, frantic shifts, but Friday night at Polaris Ice at Propst Arena, the entire trajectory of a match turned inside a locker room between the second and third periods. Huntsville Havoc reported a 4-2 victory over the Macon Mayhem, fueled entirely by a ferocious offensive surge in the final twenty minutes of regulation.

For forty minutes, the home side looked thoroughly stymied. Macon struck first midway through the opening period when a routine neutral-zone dump-in hopped awkwardly away from Huntsville goaltender Alex Proctor. Bohdan Zinchenko pounced on the loose puck, burying the rebound with 8:25 left on the clock. Things went from frustrating to difficult in the second period as penalty trouble mounted. Huntsville took four of the five minor penalties assessed in the frame, and the visitors capitalized when Michael Krupinski delivered a sharp reverse hit to clear space. That sequence freed up Mason Hoehn for a power-play one-timer past Proctor with 6:20 remaining.

Despite outshooting Macon 21-13 in that second period, Huntsville skated off the ice facing a 2-0 hole.

The Power-Play Spark That Ignited the Comeback

The math favored Macon heading into the third, but hockey matches are rarely settled on shot totals alone. The Havoc needed a lifeline, and Marc Pasemko supplied it just nine seconds into a power play while Macon’s Nick Dineen served a roughing minor. Positioned in the right circle, Pasemko attempted a pass into the slot. Instead of finding a stick, the puck slipped straight through netminder Josh Boyko’s five-hole with 16:36 remaining.

It was an unorthodox route to a score, featuring assists from Michael Abgrall and Dawson Sciarrino, but it completely cracked open the game’s momentum.

Pasemko was far from finished. With 9:10 left in regulation, Troy Williams fired a heavy shot from the left point. Pasemko successfully redirected it through Boyko’s five-hole once again, tying the game at 2-2. With Williams and Ben Schultheis picking up the helpers, Pasemko officially extended his goal-scoring streak to three games.

Jack Jaunich Scores Late to Secure Huntsville Victory

The complete turnaround materialized with 4:07 remaining on the clock. Terry Ryder sprang Giovanni Procopio on a clean breakaway. Though Boyko turned aside the initial attempt, Jack Jaunich aggressively followed the play, burying the rebound to register Huntsville’s first lead of the night at 3-2.

Macon pulled Boyko for an extra attacker in the dying moments of regulation, but Procopio slammed the door shut. He lofted a saucer pass from center ice straight into the empty net with just 15 seconds remaining, securing the 4-2 final score with a secondary assist credited to Schultheis.

While the offense stole headlines in the third period, Proctor anchored the victory from his crease. Macon poured 20 shots on goal in the final frame alone, and Proctor turned aside every single one of them. He finished the night with 43 saves on 45 shots. Boyko was equally busy at the other end, stopping 42 of 45 attempts in a losing effort. Both special-teams units finished the night converting 1-for-5 on the power play.

The Havoc return to action on Saturday, November 7, traveling to face the Marksmen at the Crown Coliseum.
