K-pop band Katseye canceled its sold-out Detroit concert just 30 minutes before it was set to begin at Little Caesars Arena, prompting angry parents to take to social media. The band blamed the last-minute postponement on a member being sick.
The cancellation left many fans, including young girls and their mothers, who had traveled hundreds of miles, stranded. FOX 2 spoke with Jessica Lenhardy of Snokie, Illinois, a five-and-a-half-hour drive from Detroit, who spent about $5,000 on VIP tickets, travel, and outfits for her 8- and 10-year-old daughters. They also took two days off from school and work to attend.
Parental Backlash Over Short Notice
Lots of angry parents took to social media to express their frustration over the last-minute cancelation. Lenhardy criticized the lack of communication, stating It was shocking that they went through and kind of kept our hopes up until a few minutes before the show.
She suggested that fans should have been notified at least 24 hours in advance if there were issues, saying we should’ve been notified maybe 24 hours at least in advance, and they could’ve saved a lot of people coming from out of town the time and effort to get there.
Band’s Apology and Plans for Rescheduling
In response to the backlash, the band posted an apology on their Instagram page. Katseye confirmed that the show will be rescheduled. Lenhardy and her daughters plan to attend the new date, though she noted that not everyone will be able to afford to travel again.

Financial and Logistical Impact on Families
The financial and logistical toll on families was significant. Lenhardy’s $5,000 investment included not just tickets but also travel expenses and new outfits for the event. The cancellation meant that many families who had made substantial plans and expenditures were left with little notice and no show to attend.
