Stars Align for LA28 Olympic Equestrian Events at Santa Anita
Los Angeles will host its third Olympics in 2028 under the newly unveiled official slogan, “Stars Align,” eventingnation.com reported. According to the organizing press release, the slogan draws on the city’s global association with entertainment and creativity while looking ahead to a historic chapter in sporting history. Equestrian events for the upcoming Games are scheduled to be hosted at Santa Anita, located in Arcadia.

Eventing Nation’s editorial commentary noted that the competitions would have been better suited, particularly for eventing, at Galway Downs in Temecula as was the original plan.
U.S. Eventing Schedule Heats Up This Weekend Across Four States
Equestrian competitors take center stage across multiple venues this weekend with four major fixtures on the calendar. Riders and horses gather for the Eventing Championships at Galway Downs in California, alongside the Virginia Horse Center Fall in Virginia, the Rocking Horse Fall H.T. in Florida, and the Texas Rose Horse Park H.T. in Texas.
Beyond the competition rings, recent milestones highlight the enduring connection between riders and their mounts. Annette Reals achieved a Century Ride aboard Knights Tale following six hip replacements. The story follows the long road back to competition for the one-eyed Thoroughbred at the USEA American Eventing Championships, as detailed by eventingnation.com.
Retail Shifts and International Coaching Initiatives
Retail changes continue to reshape the equestrian commercial landscape. Canadian-based retailer Greenhawk has moved into the Dover Saddlery space in Aiken, South Carolina, after that store closed earlier this year. Greenhawk made a strategic move to accelerate its planned move into the U.S. when Dover announced its closure earlier this year, though the latter has recently announced it’ll be making a comeback of some sort in the future.
Meanwhile, riders looking toward international competition have new coaching opportunities. Laine Ashker is leading a travel program to Mexico for competitors aiming for the Dressage World Cup qualifier.
