Omaha Lancers Sweep Weekend Series With 6-4 Win Over Lincoln Stars

Lancers Sweep Weekend Series Against Stars with 6-4 Victory

The Omaha Lancers secured their first weekend sweep of the season by defeating the Lincoln Stars 6-4 on Saturday night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. With the win, Omaha improved to 5-6-1-0 overall, extending the Lancers’ head-to-head win streak against the Stars to four games dating back to last season.

Early Scoring Bursts and Roster Milestones

Omaha set the tone early for the second consecutive night, jumping out to a commanding three-goal lead before the game was five minutes old. Rylan Bydal opened the scoring just under a minute into the contest, converting a feed from Charlie Vig for his fourth goal in the last four games. Tanner Morgan doubled the lead at 2:08, marking his third goal in four games and adding to a multi-point night that included two assists.

The offensive onslaught chased Lincoln starting goaltender William Prowse from the net after he surrendered three goals on just six shots in the opening 4:13. Caine Bickel capitalized on the ensuing power play to notch his first USHL goal, putting the Lancers up 3-1. Moments later, Matty Lynn added his first goal in a Lancer uniform, completing a frenetic first period that ended with Omaha holding a 4-1 advantage. It marked the first time the Lancers had scored four goals in a single period since April 4 at Lincoln.

Staving Off the Lincoln Comeback

Despite facing a steep deficit, the Stars refused to fold in the middle frame. Lincoln erupted for three goals in a span of just 5:07 during the second period. Jordan Johnson struck first on the power play, continuing a trend that has seen half of Omaha’s allowed power-play goals this season come against Lincoln. Samuel Murin then narrowed the gap further before Tommy Browne and Greg Najda scored eight seconds apart off consecutive faceoff wins, each recording their first USHL goals to cut Omaha’s lead to 5-4.

Adam Israilov restored order for the hosts in the second period, redirecting an Artem Prima wrist shot past the goaltender for his first of two goals on the night. Israilov, who has recorded a point in all but one game since returning to the lineup on October 10, struck again in the third period. He led the Lancer rush into the Stars’ zone by dumping the puck in from the blue line; it ricocheted off the back of the net, and Yegor Kim hustled to the goal line to retrieve the puck and toss it back to Israilov in front to ice the game at 6-4.

Defensive Stand and Ahead on the Road

Between the pipes, Anthony Sciere turned away 23 shots to earn back-to-back victories for the first time this season, improving his record to 5-4-1-0. The outing marked his sixth consecutive start and seventh straight game logging at least 47 minutes of crease time.

The Lancers now look ahead to a pair of road matchups next weekend, traveling to face Tri-City on Friday before visiting Sioux City on Saturday.
