Storms and Lightning Strike Northwest Las Vegas on Halloween
Heavy rain and lightning strikes abruptly interrupted trick-or-treaters Saturday evening in the northwest Las Vegas valley. The storm rolled into the area around 6 p.m. just as families were trick-or-treating around Lamplight Village.
The weather hit Lamplight Village, a community known as “Lampfright Village” during Halloween because of the large amount of effort homeowners put into decorating their homes. The sudden weather shift triggered large volumes of traffic as families and teenagers simultaneously arrived and left as the storm rolled in.
County Officials Issue Pre-Storm Safety Warnings
Clark County officials had issued a weekend warning ahead of the severe weather, noting that the heaviest rain would arrive late Saturday into Sunday.
The advisory reminded the public that children moving up and down streets in costumes could hinder visibility for drivers, urging extreme caution on the roads during evening hours.
Social Media Post Draws Police Response
Amid the weather disruptions, the neighborhood also managed an influx of visitors drawn by a social media post.
According to local residents, personnel from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department handled traffic management and provided extra protection because a resident’s location had been shared on the internet. That online notice advertised that a Saturday night gathering would occur at the property, an unauthorized action that residents explained caused worries that massive crowds of teens might overwhelm the traditional celebration.
Elaborate Neighborhood Displays Defy the Weather
Despite the brief chaos, the event remained peaceful.

Families and children continued to tour the decorated properties, including a standout Star Wars display by Jason Hayes featuring a makeshift Millennium Falcon cockpit and X-Wing.
“It’s a whole month of setup, and I have my family and friends that come and help me set this up,” Hayes told 8 News Now.
Harry Potter Attraction Delights Visitors
“It’s fun to make memories for our children and adults that are coming through here,” Connelly told 8 News Now. “How many really fun adults do you know?”
