Pennsylvania DLI Integrates ID.me for Claimant Verification

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (Pennsylvania DLI) has integrated the ID.me service to authenticate individuals requesting benefits and online services across the commonwealth. Claimants navigating the state’s unemployment compensation system must now utilize this digital identity network to secure their accounts and submit new claims.

Streamlining Access for New and Existing Users

For applicants who already maintain an ID.me Wallet, the process requires visiting the Pennsylvania DLI portal, selecting the sign-in option, and logging in using their existing PA username and password. New users must complete an individual registration through the platform prompts before establishing their credentials and advancing to file an Unemployment Compensation Claim.

When the system prompts identity confirmation, users select the verification link to connect their DLI session with their ID.me profile. A final authorization screen outlines the specific data elements the state department will receive, requiring the user to grant explicit consent by selecting the allow option before the verification handshake completes.

Self-Service, Video Calls, and In-Person Options

Individuals establishing a new ID.me Wallet choose among three distinct pathways to satisfy the state’s security protocols. The self-service option guides users through uploading government-issued identity documents alongside a live video selfie, typically concluding within five to ten minutes.

Alternatively, applicants can select a video call route that pairs uploaded documents and personal details with a live ID.me Video Chat Agent. This representative evaluates the submitted documentation against the live applicant through a secure virtual connection. For residents preferring an in-person approach, ID.me maintains physical Identity Network Locations where individuals book an appointment, bring their required documents along with a specific registration code, or utilize walk-in availability.

Dividing Support Between Technical and Policy Channels

Technical hurdles regarding wallet access or identity confirmation fall under the purview of ID.me support channels. Conversely, any policy questions or procedural steps required after a claimant successfully wraps up the verification process are directed to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.
