Boston Police Seek Public Assistance in South End Assault Investigation
Boston police are working to identify a cyclist involved in an assault on a pedestrian in the South End last month. The incident, which occurred on October 8, has prompted officials to release a clear image of the suspect in hopes that community members can help investigators close the case.
According to an account reported by The Boston Globe, the altercation began around 12:45 p.m. in the vicinity of Dalton Street. The victim told officers that he and the cyclist, who was riding on the sidewalk at the time, engaged in a verbal dispute. The situation escalated rapidly when the cyclist allegedly chased the pedestrian and struck him in the face. The force of the blow caused the victim to fall to the ground.
Police report that after the assault, the suspect returned to his bicycle, only to approach the downed victim a second time. While the victim was injured on the ground, the cyclist allegedly took photos and videos of him before leaving the scene. The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital to be treated for injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening.
