Run for 2026 Providence Registered Nurses Bargaining Unit Leadership

Providence Registered Nurses Open Nominations for Seven Leadership Roles Ahead of 2027 Term

The 2026 Providence Registered Nurses bargaining unit officers election is officially underway, with the AaNA opening the floor for members to step into leadership. Seven positions are available within the Providence Registered Nurses bargaining unit at PAMC, with terms beginning January 4, 2027.

For nurses looking to shape the direction of their workplace representation, the clock is ticking. All candidates must complete and submit their Consent to Serve forms by 11:59 PM on November 16, 2026. The incoming officers will assume their duties on January 4, 2027, serving a two-year term that runs through January 2029.

Positions to Be Elected and Eligibility Rules

The upcoming ballot covers a broad spectrum of union responsibilities, ensuring that different facets of nurse advocacy are represented at the table. The election will fill the following seven roles:

  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Health & Safety Officer
  • PRN Representative to the AaNA Labor Council
  • Grievance Officer (three separate positions)

Eligibility to run is restricted to AaNA union members in good standing who are represented in the Providence Registered Nurses bargaining unit at PAMC. Union-represented non-members are not eligible to run for office, nor do they hold voting rights in the upcoming election. According to election guidelines, members must have been in good standing as of October 20, 2026, to qualify as eligible voters.

The Election Timeline and Voting Logistics

Once the nomination window closes in mid-November, the voting process will transition to a secure online platform. Voting will open on November 20 and close on December 14, 2026.

To ensure robust participation, voting invitations will be snail mailed to all eligible voters. Members who have a valid personal email address on file with the association will also receive an email invitation to vote. Nurses needing to update their contact details must correct their mailing address in their employer’s records while also reaching out directly to the AaNA to ensure the updates reach the organization before ballot mailing commences.

In scenarios where candidates run unopposed, the election procedures allow for those individuals to be declared elected by acclamation, bypassing the need for a general ballot. Members seeking assistance, technical support, or clarification on the nomination process can contact AaNA Programs Director Andrea Nutty.
