Indianapolis Colts Injury Report: Week 8 Thursday – Stampede Blue

Colts Week 8 Injury Report: Roster Shuffles and Practice Statuses Ahead of Jacksonville

As the Indianapolis Colts prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8, roster depth is getting an early test. Linebacker Bryce Boettcher missed consecutive practices due to a lingering groin injury, pointing toward a second straight absence, Stampede Blue reported. With Boettcher sidelined, Cj Allen is lined up to start at the MIKE linebacker spot, while Akeem Davis-Gaither shifts over to the WILL position to anchor the defensive front.

The defensive secondary brings a mix of encouraging returns and fresh concerns. Cornerback Sauce Gardner returned as a full participant at practice, working his way back from a calf injury that kept him out of several recent matchups. However, the positive momentum at cornerback stalled with Gardner, as Justin Walley missed practice again with a knee injury.

Secondary Adjustments and Offensive Progress

Walley’s continued absence leaves his status for Sunday very much in doubt, putting Kapena Gushiken in line for his first career start. The Colts previously claimed Gushiken off waivers earlier in the year, and he now faces an immediate baptism by fire if Walley cannot suit up.

On the offensive side of the ball, the injury picture cleared up slightly. Guard Matt Goncalves (ankle), wide receiver Anthony Gould (concussion), and defensive tackle Tim Smith (ankle) all returned to full participation after being limited during Wednesday’s session.

Meanwhile, tight ends Tyler Warren (groin) and Drew Ogletree (knee) were both limited at practice, leaving their availability for Sunday uncertain. Friday’s upcoming practice session will serve as the final indicator for whether either player can take the field against Jacksonville.
