Washington Stuns Nebraska 17-10 to Edge Closer to Bowl Eligibility
Washington secured a critical 17-10 victory over Nebraska on its home field, bringing the program within a single win of bowl eligibility, UW Dawg Pound reported. The hard-fought conference matchup reshaped the trajectory of Washington’s season through standout defensive plays and timely offensive execution.
Entering the contest with a 5-3 overall record and a 2-3 mark in Big Ten play, the Huskies relied on a mix of quarterback play and defensive disruption. While Elijah Brown started the game under center for Washington, it was Demond Williams who ultimately guided the offense down the stretch to seal the win.
A Split Game Ball and Defensive Heroics
If Washington were handing out a game ball, the recognition would be divided evenly between the entire defensive unit and wide receiver Chris Lawson. Lawson delivered a massive performance, hauling in 12 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Huskies constantly harassed Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea, intercepting him three times. The game swung decisively during a frantic 15-second span of game time. Lawson broke the game open with a go-ahead touchdown, catching a short pass from Williams, executing a spin move on a defender, and racing into the end zone to put Washington ahead 10-7.
Nebraska immediately faced pressure to respond on the ensuing drive. Instead, the possession ended when Alex McLaughlin intercepted a pass and returned it for a pick-six, extending the Washington lead to 17-7 and providing a cushion the defense protected until the final whistle.
Remaining Schedule and the Road to Bowl Eligibility
With this victory, Washington’s season has taken a salvageable turn. The team faces a defining stretch to close out the year. The schedule continues with matchups against Penn State—currently sitting at 4-4—and a Michigan State squad still searching for its first Big Ten win of the season.

Following those two fixtures, the Huskies return home to host No. 4 Indiana at Husky Stadium. Washington will then conclude the regular season on the road against an Oregon Ducks team that has underperformed relative to expectations.
