The Sioux Falls Boxing Classic is moving to the Sioux Falls Convention Center for its fifth annual installment on Thursday, January 21, 2027, according to a report from espnsiouxfalls.com.
The expansion follows four consecutive sold-out events, a streak that has forced organizers to seek a larger stage to accommodate growing demand. By shifting the venue, the Sioux Falls Sports Authority aims to provide more space for fans and local businesses to participate in the event, which combines professional boxing matches with an upscale dinner gala atmosphere.
Expanding the reach of a local tradition
Since its inception in 2022, the Boxing Classic has functioned as a partnership between the Sioux Falls Sports Authority and the local 15th Round Promotions. While traditional boxing matches often rely on arena-style seating, this event is structured as a social evening where guests are seated at tables or in suites. Every ticket includes dinner, a format designed to blend high-energy sports with a formal social setting.

The decision to move to the Convention Center allows for a wider variety of ways to attend the event. For the first time in the history of the Classic, organizers are offering individual tickets priced at $125 per person. For those looking for a more communal or premium experience, tables of eight are available starting at $800, and a limited number of ringside VIP tables are also being offered for those wanting to be closest to the ring. The suites for the 2027 event are already sold out.
“Four straight sellouts tell us we’ve created something special, and the demand continues to grow,” said Jerry Palleschi, Project Director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority. “Moving to the Sioux Falls Convention Center allows us to build on that momentum, welcome a larger audience and introduce more people to an event that has quickly become a favorite on the Sioux Falls calendar.”
Thomas Lee, Executive Director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, noted that the event’s appeal extends beyond the ring itself. As Dakota News Now reported, the draw for many attendees is the combination of food, camaraderie, and the unique atmosphere, making it an event that attracts people who may not even be dedicated boxing fans.

Scaling charitable giving for local programs
The growth of the event is not merely about ticket sales or larger crowds; it carries a specific civic purpose. The proceeds from the Sioux Falls Boxing Classic are directed toward local non-profits, specifically benefiting VOA Dakotas and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority. These funds support various programs and initiatives intended to create a positive impact throughout the Sioux Falls community.
The move to a larger venue essentially scales the potential for charitable giving. As the capacity increases, so does the revenue generated for these local organizations. The ability to offer individual tickets at a lower price point than full tables also lowers the barrier to entry, potentially bringing a more diverse demographic of supporters into the fold.
The move to the Convention Center marks a milestone for the event. The 2027 date serves as the next major benchmark for its expansion.
