CNN has appointed Stefano Pozzebon as an international correspondent based in its Rome bureau, where he will cover major news across Italy and Europe. The multilingual journalist joins the network after reporting from Latin America on recent presidential elections, political shifts following the capture of Nicolas Maduro, and devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.
The appointment places the experienced correspondent inside the network’s Italian hub to drive reporting across the European continent. CNN London Bureau Chief and EMEA General Manager Andrew Roy announced the selection in a statement, highlighting the journalist’s background and linguistic abilities.
Global Reporting Background From Latin America to Europe
Pozzebon transitions to the Rome newsroom after building an extensive reporting record across Latin America as a network contributor in Bogota, Colombia, and Caracas, Venezuela. Working in both English and Spanish, he covered significant regional milestones including Colombia’s presidential election and political changes inside Venezuela following the capture of Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces earlier in the year.
His recent assignments also included field reporting from Venezuela in the aftermath of devastating twin earthquakes that struck within seconds of each other, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Beyond his work in television news and digital reporting platforms, his journalism career includes academic training in international journalism at City University, London, and international recognition such as an appearance on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Italy list in 2017 alongside a Livingston Award nomination in 2016 for a documentary investigating counterfeit pharmaceutical trafficking in Western Africa.
Expanding Coverage Across Italy and the Mediterranean
From the Rome base, Pozzebon will take on responsibility for major news developments throughout Italy and the broader European region. He joins an established team working alongside Vatican correspondent Christopher Lamb, who oversees coverage dedicated to the papacy and Pope Leo XIV.

The network emphasizes that this appointment reinforces its commitment to maintaining dedicated personnel on the ground within Europe. Roy noted that the region continues to play a pivotal role across global politics, environmental issues, culture, and sport.
“Stefano is an experienced, multilingual journalist with deep roots in the region, making him uniquely placed to deliver authoritative, original reporting that will help audiences understand what’s happening across Europe and the Mediterranean, and why it matters to the rest of the world.”

Multilingual Capabilities and Newsroom Integration
Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and his native Italian, Pozzebon brings a diverse linguistic toolkit to the network’s European operations.
