Travis Konecny marked his return to the Philadelphia Flyers lineup with a goal and an assist, leading his team to a 6-3 victory over the Utah Mammoth on Sunday. The win snapped a three-game winless skid for Philadelphia.
The matchup saw the Flyers shake off recent injuries to jump-start their offense. Konecny had missed more than three weeks and 10 games due to a lower-body injury, but wasted little time making an impact. At 1:06 of the second period, he banked a shot off Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka to put Philadelphia ahead 2-1.
Konecny later set up Christian Dvorak for a one-timer from the high slot, extending the Flyers’ lead to 4-1. Beyond the scoresheet, he set a physical tone for the hosts, finishing the night with four hits.
Owen Tippett also returned to the Philadelphia lineup after missing the last six games with an upper-body injury. Meanwhile, Matvei Michkov opened the scoring for the Flyers, snapping a shot past Vejmelka for his 10th goal of the season. Michkov is the first Flyer to reach 10 goals in his first 17 games of a season since Konecny accomplished the feat in 2023.
How the Scoring Unfolded
Dmitri Simashev scored Utah’s first goal. However, the Mammoth struggled to contain Philadelphia’s returning forwards as the game wore on. Dvorak and Noah Cates each contributed a goal and an assist for the Flyers, while Oliver Bonk also found the back of the net.

In the third period, Utah attempted a comeback. Mikhail Sergachev scored on a late power play, and Logan Cooley cut the deficit further with his eighth goal of the season while playing with an extra attacker. Any hopes of a full Mammoth rally were dashed when Cole Knuble iced the game with an empty-net goal for Philadelphia.
Goaltender Dan Vladar made 19 saves to earn the win for the Flyers, while Karel Vejmelka made 15 saves for Utah. The loss continues an alternating pattern for the Mammoth, who have traded wins and losses over their past eight games.
Upcoming Schedule
Both teams face quick turnarounds. The Utah Mammoth will continue their six-game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday night. The Philadelphia Flyers host Minnesota on Tuesday night.
