The Elkton Home Invasion and the Search for a Delaware Safe
An 81-year-old man was found abandoned and injured in the front yard of a residence on Chestnut Drive in Elkton, Maryland, on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The victim, who had traveled from his home in Delaware to meet a local resident, was discovered by first responders around 8:30 a.m. with visible injuries and markings on his chest and forehead.
According to police reports, the victim had been held against his will, tied to a chair with an electrical cord, and subjected to physical torture. The assault was allegedly carried out by 28-year-old Austin Michael Maniscalco, with the involvement of 31-year-old Taylor Storm Falcone, both of Elkton. Investigators believe the pair lured the man to the property in a calculated effort to rob him and extract the combination to a safe located at his residence in Delaware.
The Sequence of the Assault
The victim told investigators that his ordeal began after he arrived at the Chestnut Drive home at the invitation of Falcone. Once inside, he was confronted by Maniscalco, who the victim described as being immediately aggressive. The situation escalated into a violent robbery. Maniscalco allegedly punched the victim in the face and held a knife to his throat before securing him to a chair with an electrical cord.
The torture tactics detailed by the victim included the use of heated kitchen syrup, which Maniscalco allegedly poured over the man’s nude body. During the assault, Maniscalco reportedly used a black marker to write the combination of the victim’s Delaware safe onto his forehead. The victim also reported that markings were placed on his chest to indicate where his heart would be carved out.
Throughout the encounter, Falcone reportedly left the property, while Maniscalco remained to oversee the detainment. The victim told police that Maniscalco successfully stole $80, a gold chain, a gold watch, a gold bracelet, and the keys to three vehicles: a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2026 GMC Sierra, and a 2016 Cadillac Escalade.

The Escape and Police Response
The victim remained in captivity until Maniscalco fell asleep inside the home. This lapse allowed the victim to untie himself and flee the residence, leading to his discovery by authorities in the yard. Police contacted law enforcement in New Castle County, Delaware, to perform a welfare check on the victim’s home. Officials confirmed that the property had not been breached, suggesting the perpetrators had not yet acted on the stolen safe combination.
When officers returned to the Chestnut Drive residence to apprehend the suspects, Maniscalco refused to exit. Police entered the home and took him into custody, discovering the chair, the electrical cord, and the stolen property inside. Falcone was apprehended later when she returned to the scene.
Legal Charges and Current Status
Both suspects are currently being held without bail. Maniscalco faces a series of charges including robbery, assault, theft, and false imprisonment. Falcone has been charged with conspiracy to commit assault and theft, along with related offenses. The victim, who was transported to a hospital for treatment, has since been released.
The investigation into the specific logistics of the plot remains active, as officials work to process the evidence collected from the Chestnut Drive home. While the immediate threat to the victim’s Delaware residence was neutralized by the timely intervention of law enforcement, the incident highlights the extreme risks associated with targeted home-luring schemes.
