Nevada Day Matinee Brings the Devils to T-Mobile Arena
The Vegas Golden Knights return to home ice on Friday afternoon to host the New Jersey Devils at 3 p.m. PT, marking a festive Nevada Day matchup at T-Mobile Arena. Entering the contest with a 9-4-1 record, the Golden Knights sit second in the Pacific Division standings behind the Edmonton Oilers, while the Devils arrive holding an 8-5-0 record and the second spot in the Metropolitan Division.
Friday’s afternoon start throws standard game-day routines out the window. Head Coach Ryan Craig noted that starting ahead and on pace with awareness of the Devils game can bring success for the Golden Knights on Friday.
The holiday atmosphere brings plenty of color to the arena concourse. A specialty signed Nevada Day jersey auction runs from 1:45 p.m. PT to 5 p.m. PT, with proceeds directly supporting the VGK Foundation’s ongoing programming with the Clark County School District.
Roster Spark and Recent Momentum
Vegas heads into the afternoon battle looking to build on a solid 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. Braeden Bowman opened the scoring with a power-play goal, while Raphael Lavoie put Vegas back in front with his first career goal seven minutes later. Nic Dowd picked up an assist on Lavoie’s milestone tally, marking his own 200th career point. Ville Heinola also chipped in, registering his first point as a Golden Knight, and Adin Hill anchored the defense by turning aside 25 of 26 shots for a .962 save percentage.

Craig stated that “three guys got into the lineup with just showing up and playing, so hopefully, there’s 20 guys that are just going to show up and play” on Friday.
Mitch Marner enters the afternoon riding an eight-game point streak, compiling 11 points over that span with one goal and ten assists. Meanwhile, top defensive duo Brayden McNabb and Shea Theodore continue to anchor the blue line, ranking fourth and fifth respectively among all NHL blueliners in plus-minus rating at +14 and +12.
Injury trouble has also hovered over the crease in recent days.
Milestones on the Horizon
Individual achievements loom large as the Golden Knights push through the early autumn schedule. Brayden McNabb stands just one appearance away from reaching 900 career NHL games, and two points shy of 200 career points. Jeremy Lauzon sits two games away from his own 400-game milestone, while leading all NHL defensemen with 51 hits. On the franchise side, Shea Theodore requires five more games to hit 600 appearances in a Golden Knights uniform.

The Devils present a formidable test following a busy stretch that included a 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars and a 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. New Jersey recently shook up its roster by acquiring goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Dawson Mercer, Nick Bjugstad, Nico Daws, and first-round pick Alexander Command. Hellebuyck made his team debut against Dallas, stopping 17 shots. Jack Hughes paces the New Jersey attack with 14 points, followed by Jesper Bratt with 11.
History favors the hosts as the puck drops on the holiday matinee.
