Weldon L. Dahlke, a lifelong farmer and former town official, died Friday, October 23, 2026, at the age of 90 following a short illness. A resident of Luxemburg, Dahlke leaves behind a legacy rooted in the soil of the Town of Montpelier and a 63-year marriage to his wife, Faye.
Dahlke spent nearly his entire life farming the land in his home region, embodying a generation of agricultural stewards who balanced the grueling demands of the field with a deep commitment to local governance and faith.
A Life Rooted in Montpelier and Service
Born on March 31, 1936, in the Town of Montpelier, Wisconsin, to Alvin J. and Hilda I. (Beilke) Dahlke, Weldon’s life followed a trajectory of steady, quiet service. He answered the call of duty, serving in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. His service occurred during the peacetime window following the Korean Conflict.
His commitment to his community extended beyond the military. Dahlke was a pillar of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier, where he held numerous offices over the decades. He also stepped into the administrative side of civic life, serving as the treasurer for the Town Board of Montpelier.
In 1963, Weldon married Faye B. Burmeister at St. Peter Lutheran Church in the Town of Carlton. Their union lasted 63 years, providing a stable foundation for a family that grew to include two sons, Brian and Brad, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The Transition from Field to Village
For most of his nine decades, Weldon’s identity was tied to the rhythm of the seasons. He farmed in the Montpelier area for the vast majority of his life, only moving to the Village of Luxemburg in 2004. However, retirement from the primary residence didn’t mean retirement from the land. Even after his move, he continued to assist his son on the family farm, ensuring that the agricultural knowledge passed down through generations remained active and applied.
Outside of the fields and the town board, Weldon found joy in the cultural staples of Wisconsin life. He was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and spent his leisure time playing cards with friends and family.
