just days after she had announced her return to the Hulu series. The 32-year-old creator and MomTok founder revealed her departure in an Instagram post on Monday, pointing to what she described as relentless cyberbullying from her fellow cast members as the catalyst for her exit.
The announcement caps a tumultuous period for Paul, whose personal life has drawn intense public scrutiny following a series of legal battles and a suspended television career. While Season 5 of the show currently airs on Hulu, the rest of the cast has already been filming Season 6 without Paul since July.

In her social media statement, Paul expressed appreciation for the networks that stood by her but made it clear she no longer wishes to participate in the environment surrounding the production. My gratitude goes to all the networks that supported me throughout this and gave me the chance to return.
Paul turned her focus toward the show’s ensemble cast, which includes Mayci Neeley, Jennifer Affleck, Mikayla Matthews, Jessi Draper, Miranda McWhorter, Layla Taylor, and Whitney Leavitt, alongside her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. She accused them of launching a coordinated campaign against her on social media. Almost the entire cast plus some, going at me….laughing about my kids is disgusting.
Despite her frustration with the cast, Paul praised the behind-the-scenes workers on the project. She noted that she treated production and crew members with respect and that they were the ones who checked on her throughout the ordeal.
Custody Battles, Court-Ordered Drug Tests, and Sealed Legal Filings
Paul’s exit comes against the backdrop of ongoing legal proceedings involving the fathers of her children. She shares a son with her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen and a son and daughter with her ex-husband Tate Paul.
The drug test was mandated following a July court ruling, though the results were initially placed under a protective order to keep them confidential from the public. However, the details emerged publicly after Tate Paul filed court documents on August 13 seeking to unseal the results, which were subsequently reported by TMZ and verified across entertainment outlets.
The legal scrutiny traces back to an intense domestic dispute between Paul and Mortensen in March 2023, which prompted a police investigation and temporarily halted filming on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
. At the time, TMZ published video footage showing Paul throwing chairs during an altercation while one of her children was nearby.
Cast Fallout and Departures Preceding the Exit
The mounting controversies have deeply fractured the reality show’s cast. Prior to Paul’s announcement, Mikayla Matthews announced her departure from the program, explicitly citing a moral objection to Paul’s anticipated return. Matthews wrote on Instagram. Matthews also stated she would donate the remainder of her earnings from Season 5 to the National Children’s Alliance, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
Other cast members, including Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor, expressed uncertainty regarding their own futures on the program once Season 6 wraps.
Uncertain Future for the Hulu Hit
Hulu has renewed The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
for both a sixth and a seventh season, but Paul’s departure leaves the immediate trajectory of the series in flux as production continues without one of its most prominent figures. Representatives for Hulu have not publicly detailed whether Paul would have been invited back to film following the drug test allegations, leaving her statement as the final word on her participation.
